Recount completed in school board Primary race
The Minneapolis Elections and Voter Services Division has completed a recount of ballots cast in the “School Board Member At-Large” position for Minneapolis Special School District 1 (Minneapolis Public Schools). The recount was requested by candidate Doug Mann, pursuant to the provisions of Minnesota Statutes § 204C.36, subd. 1(b). The certified results of the election show that Mann received a total of 2,199 votes, placing him in the fifth position of candidates, 50 votes behind Ira Jourdain, who placed fourth with a total of 2,249 votes. Because there are two at-large seats on the school board to be filled, the top four vote-getters will advance to the general election scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2014. Ultimately, voters will determine which two candidates will be elected to the two at-large seats.
The unofficial recount results are:
Original tally = 2,249
Revised tally = 2,242
Difference = -7
Original tally = 2,199
Revised tally = 2,193
