A special election has been called to fill a vacancy in the Council – Ward 6 seat, which includes parts of the Stevens Square, Ventura Village, Philips West, Elliot Park, Seward, and Cedar Riverside neighborhoods. The special election will be conducted Tuesday, August 11, in conjunction with the State Primary.Enter your address to see if you are eligible to vote in this special election. See a map of the ward.
Tuesday, August 11: Polls open 7 a.m. — 8 p.m.
If you are in line at your polling place by 8:00pm, you will be able to vote.
City elections use the Ranked-Choice Voting (RCV) methodology. For details, see an explanation of how RCV will work for the Special Election. Candidate totals for each ranking will be available on the Secretary of State’s website on Election Night. A winner will be declared if a candidate receives enough first-choice rankings to win. If not, tabulation will begin Friday, August 14.
Results are unofficial until certified by the Municipal Canvassing Board.
A sample ballot for the special election will be available about 45 days ahead of the election.

Absentee balloting will begin at 8 a.m. on Friday, June 26, and will continue until 5 p.m. on Monday, August 10. Voters may request a ballot online or fill out the paper Absentee Ballot Application to receive a ballot through the mail. Learn more about absentee voting in Minneapolis
