To run for office, a candidate must file an affidavit of candidacy. On this form, a candidate:
- States their name as it is to be written on the ballot.
- Affirms that it is their true name or the name by which they are commonly known in the community.
- Lists their public contact information and website. Candidates can request that their residential address be classified as private data.
For offices with a party affiliation, the form also states the candidate's political party.
