For each election year, we produce a candidate information packet that: 

  • Summarizes elections laws
  • Lists important election dates
  • Shares helpful contact information

2021 Information sessions for candidates

We hosted two information sessions for candidates and campaign workers during the 2021 Municipal Election. The sessions were also open to media representatives and members of the general public.

Session 1: What to know about the candidate filing process

We overviewed the three different steps of the filing process. This included talking about what you'll do with the City and County.

Session 2: The roles and responsibilities of the Mayor and City Council

Our City Clerk walked through the job description of the Mayor and City Council. This session was aimed to give candidates a good idea of their role, if elected. There was a new candidate orientation document to go along with this presentation, linked below.

Office of Administrative Hearings

Violations of M.S. 211A or M.S. 211B, which involve campaign finance and fair practices, can be filed with the Office of Administrative Hearings.
